Our Leaders

Our congregation is filled with ministers! Every single person who is a member and active part of what goes on here is a minister!  We do have several specific positions some paid and some not paid that contribute particular gifts to the ministry of our church.

Reverend Lisa Anderson, Pastor

Lisa has been pastor of the church since 2005. She is an ordained Cumberland Presbyterian minister and has served several denominations as interim pastor in the past. Her educational background includes a BA from Christian Brothers University, an M.Div from Memphis Theological Seminary, Clinical Pastoral Education at The Veteran’s Medical Center, Memphis and she is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Ministry at MTS. Lisa is married to Rev. Dr. Barry Anderson who is Director of Admission & Student Services at Memphis Theological Seminary. Together they have three grown children; Timothy (wife Kelly), Sarah (husband Jacob), Philip and three grandchildren; Lily, Oliver and Grayson.
Rev. Andersons responsibilities as a 1/3 time pastor is to lead worship, provide leadership and to moderate the Session, offer pastoral care and counseling and to engage in all ministries of the congregation as time affords.

Rev. Laura Narowetz Todd, Associate Pastor

Rev. Todd has been a member of Colonial since 2006. She was ordained in June of 2013 after earning her MDiv from Memphis Theological Seminary. Laura graduated from Lambuth University with a  B.S. and the University of Memphis with a M.S. and she is currently working as a Wellness Education Coordinator at The Church Health Center. Laura is married to Chris Todd who is also under the care of West TN Presbytery preparing for ordination.
Lauras responsibilities as Associate Pastor include assisting in worship leadership, teaching the youth Sunday School class, offering faith/health education and assistance to the congregation and coordinating the Clothes Closet Ministry.

Emily Trapp, Coordinator of Children's Ministries

Emily is the new Coordinator of Children’s Ministries. She will work with Colonial’s youth and be in charge of the Children in the Inn Summer Camp. Some know Emily from her work last year with the Summer Day Camp, but she introduces herself to us in the following note:

I am Emily Trapp. I am twenty-four years old and my favorite color is yellow. I love speaking Spanish, eating any form of potato, and singing. I have grown up in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at First CPC, now in Olive Branch. I currently attend the Memphis Theological Seminary with plans to receive a Master’s in Divinity. I am truly excited to help be a part of Colonial CPC! I have a huge passion for working with youth and children, and have worked at many denominational and presbyterial camps. A little known fact about me and Colonial is that when I was little, my brother and I would come here to play when Colonial had "Parents Night Out." We would always return to our church telling Pastor Thompson that we got to play at the "fun church." Way back then and especially now, I am so glad to be able to participate in "The Fun Church."

Jennifer Muraya, Tutoring Coordinator

Jennifer Muraya serves Colonial CP Church as coordinator of our after-school tutoring program. The program is offered without cost to any child who is in need of help with school work. Jennifer brings a wealth of experience in teaching and her compassion and love of children is evident in the work she does.  Jennifer was born in  Kenya  and moved to Memphis to attend Memphis Theological Seminary and graduates in May 2014.  She is a candidate for ordination in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  We are excited to see how God will continue to work through Jennifer in all that she is doing in supporting Colonial.

Shirley Ostrander, Website & Online Media Coordinator

Colonial's small, aging congregation welcomed Shirley Ostrander and her many gifts and talents when she joined the church in 2010. Shirley has served Colonial CP Church as an elder since 2011. She is a candidate for the ministry of word and sacrament and a student at Memphis Theological Seminary. Shirley has a strong background in communication technology and serves Colonial as "Web Servant," assuming responsibility for development and upkeep of the church's website. She serves Room in the Inn-Memphis in the same capacity (that is, Innkeeper) and is developing that ministry's website, as well.  Shirley is an active member of the A.G. Mullins Seekers Sunday School class when she is not serving as pulpit supply in various churches in the mid-south.

We also acknowledge with gratitude the following people who contribute so much to the life and work of the church:

Betty Fite serves faithfully as our organist, she hopes this is temporary but we are thankful for any time that she blesses us with her gift of music.

Melissa Genes leads our music on Sunday, offers regular special music and is the bulletin editor each week.

Pat Edwards is our newsletter editor and has done an outstanding job on the Courier publication. She also continues to lead our Core Group in outreach ministry planning.

George Marston has been an extraordinary Session Clerk for many years, he records the work of the Session perfectly for the present and for the future records of the congregation.

Debby Marston is our church treasurer and has found some surprising gifts for this ministry in the church. She has done a remarkable job transitioning into a very difficult position.
